Sintering behavior of 8YSZ‐Ni cermet: Comparison between conventional, FST/SPS, and flash sintering

چکیده
Cermets are ceramic metal composites. The metallic phase in the cermet typically undergoes oxidation during sintering air. Electric field-assisted processes such as technology/spark plasma (FAST/SPS) and flash involves very high heating rates, short processing time low temperature. main aim of this work was to see if techniques can prevent cermet. Sintering behavior 8YSZ-5 wt.% Ni studied by three different namely; conventional sintering, FAST/SPS sintering. Phases microstructure were analyzed through X-ray diffraction scanning electron microscopy, respectively. Temperature required for samples via significantly lower than that In addition, we found limited grain growth During reducing atmosphere (Ar vacuum), particles retained their elemental state, however extent densification poor argon vacuum resulted almost complete (relative density > 97%) state air, sintered a ∼98%), however, completely oxidized.

8YSZ sintering by flash sintering method and evaluation of process parameters
Flash sintering as a new sintering method for sintering of ceramic materials has been studied and effect of various parameter such as flash current density, time of flash and contact paste on properties of flash sintered 8YSZ samples has been investigated. Results showed it is possible to achieve high density in shorter time and lower temperature than conventional sintering methods. Samples cou...
متن کاملUltrafast-Contactless Flash Sintering using Plasma Electrodes
This paper presents a novel derivative of flash sintering, in which contactless flash sintering (CFS) is achieved using plasma electrodes. In this setup, electrical contact with the sample to be sintered is made by two arc plasma electrodes, one on either side, allowing current to pass through the sample. This opens up the possibility of continuous throughput flash sintering. Preheating, a usua...

There is considerable interest in processing technologies which can lead to more energy efficient sintering of metal powders. The use of microwave sintering in particular leads to reduced energy usage during sintering as the volumetric heating process is considerably more efficient compared with resistance heating. In this study the use of a novel plasma microwave processing technology for the ...
